About The Position

Responsible for the design, automation, and ongoing administration of the credit union’s information systems infrastructure focused on the Microsoft technology stack including on premise, SaaS, and cloud technologies. This role combines senior systems engineering and architectural planning with technical leadership and hands-on administration. Lead by example in driving infrastructure modernization, automation, performance optimization, and secure operations across the environment.

  • Skilled in designing and maintaining resilient, secure, and high-availability systems.
  • Competence in documenting system architecture, procedures, and automated workflows with precision.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft infrastructure technologies including O365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware virtualization platforms
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure automation using PowerShell and other scripting languages or orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of system architecture best practices including system hardening, patching, backup strategies, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with database administration tasks such as backups, patching, and performance monitoring.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and IT governance frameworks applicable to regulated environments (e.g., NCUA, FFIEC).
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in infrastructure, automation, and cloud computing especially involving Microsoft products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field required. (A combination of education and equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.)
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or systems administration, with progressive responsibility in Microsoft, virtualization, and cloud environments.
  • Minimum of three years of experience leading or designing enterprise infrastructure projects, including server, storage, virtualization, or cloud platforms.
  • VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and virtual networking/storage administration experience required.
  • Backup and disaster recovery systems, including automated recovery and testing required.
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., financial services) and strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or similar, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) preferred.
  • CompTIA Server+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+, or similar certification preferred.
  • ITIL® Foundation Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and IT strategy.
  • Lead initiatives to facilitate infrastructure deployment, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance using tools such as PowerShell and other scripting platforms.
  • Administer and optimize Microsoft infrastructure components including O365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Windows Server roles, etc. in an environment that requires 24/7/365 operations and uptime.
  • Assist in managing VMware environments including ESXi hosts, vCenter, storage integration, and virtual networking to support reliable, high-performing systems.
  • Mentor technical staff by providing guidance, technical direction, and knowledge sharing on best practices and infrastructure standards regarding the Microsoft technology stack.
  • Develop and enforce infrastructure architecture standards, including system hardening, patching, backup, and monitoring.
  • Use automation to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure repeatability of system provisioning and maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor system health and performance, performing capacity planning and proactive maintenance to avoid service disruptions.
  • Serve as the Tier III escalation point for complex infrastructure issues; coordinate with vendors and managed service providers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure designs, configurations, automated workflows, and recovery procedures.
  • Lead infrastructure-related components of enterprise projects, including planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Perform basic database administration tasks, such as setting up user accounts, performing regular data backups, ensuring data integrity, monitoring database performance, and applying necessary updates and patches to maintain system security and efficiency.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, including automated backup/recovery solutions and DR site failover readiness.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to increase infrastructure agility, automation capabilities, and cybersecurity maturity.
  • Collaborate closely with cybersecurity, support teams and third-party partners to ensure infrastructure meets business, compliance, and security requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with federal regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act as well as credit union security protocols as it relates to this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
