About The Position

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting our national security. KBR, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Air Force’s Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Division within its enterprise Engineering Group. You will be responsible for providing expert-level system engineering guidance to the entire Division. As part of your duties, you will ensure the systems engineering processes across the ABMS product lines are in line with best practices across both commercial industry and defense acquisition. This role will also focus on developing and then implementing the processes necessary to execute systems engineering and architecture activities across the Division.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in systems engineering with a specific focus on Air Force acquisition programs or similar DoD systems.
• Center level or higher experience with authoring and/or coordinating systems engineering policies and guidance
• Experience authoring and/or reviewing acquisition documentation such as Systems Engineering Plans and Program Protection Plans
• Experience with conducting and/or participating in technical risk reviews
• Experience developing systems engineering and architecture processes to integrate mission systems into a system of systems
• Demonstrated ability to translate systems engineering policies into actionable processes for program management office teams
• Proficiency with engineering tools and technologies commonly used in Air Force and DoD acquisition programs, such as model based systems engineering, risk management, requirements management, project scheduling, and software backlog management tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to program managers, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within the DoD acquisition environment.
• Ability to navigate the complexities of military contracting processes and collaborate with defense contractors to ensure compliance with Air Force security requirements.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in Special Access and/or SCI programs.
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently or as a team member.
• Demonstrated ability to drive projects to closure and to assimilate and correlate project information in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience acquiring and/or testing command and control or battle management systems.
• DAWIA Engineering and Technology Management Practitioner or DAWIA Test and Evaluation Practitioner or Equivalent

Responsibilities

• Acquisition Lifecycle Support: Provide subject matter expertise on system engineering requirements and practices during all phases of the acquisition lifecycle, from materiel solution analysis through production, deployment, and operations and support with a focus on technical risk and requirements management. Ensure ABMS acquisition processes and documents align with appropriate systems engineering statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Address System Integration During Design: Provide subject matter expertise to product delivery teams to ensure their systems are designed, developed, and maintained in such a way that they are integrated across the DAF BATTLE NETWORK as well as with relevant joint and coalition partner capabilities. Advise on systems integration considerations for critical infrastructure and classified systems as they relate to the product line’s acquisition efforts (e.g., Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), Special Access Program (SAP), Collateral, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)).
• Training, Awareness & Collaboration: Deliver training and awareness programs on Air Force-specific systems engineering best practices for acquisition program office personnel. Serve as a liaison between program office, user community and contractor personnel to ensure clear communication and adherence to the Division’s systems engineering processes.
