About The Position

The Senior Systems Engineer – Advanced Concepts & Prototypes will guide technology strategy and maturation efforts to bridge the gap between invention and product. They will use deep technical knowledge of aerospace applications & systems integration to help GE Aerospace researchers identify the next steps for a technology. Additionally, they will construct technology maturation strategies involving system-level prototypes to be executed by a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, design engineers, and external partners. A successful applicant will have knowledge in current aerospace applications and experience leading technology maturation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years total experience in aerospace engineering
  • Exposure to range of aerospace applications
  • Requirements generation
  • Technology maturation, TRL3 – TRL6
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in system engineering or similar role
  • Design integration leadership
  • Deconstruction of complex technical challenges into discreet actions
  • System-level trade studies
  • Risk assessment and mitigation planning

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Responsibilities

  • Create with limited guidance the maturation strategy for GE Aerospace Research technologies to bridge the gap between laboratory bench tests and product ready status.
  • Collaborate with researchers, customers, and partners to identify applications and funding streams for the latest technology at GE Aerospace Research
  • Use knowledge of aerospace applications, certification, and business case to identify key system requirements for new inventions.
  • Lead risk analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA), and risk mitigation plans
  • Project leadership of a multidisciplinary team throughout the testing process, including…
  • Coordination of projects with multi-disciplinary requirements spanning multiple Research and Engineering organizations
  • Proposal creation to secure funding from internal and external customers
  • Program planning with schedule, budget, and personnel
  • Communication to stakeholders including GE Aerospace Research & Engineering leadership, government customers, and airframers
  • Mentor GE Aerospace Research personnel on system-level impacts on their technology
