About The Position

PeopleTec is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support their Huntsville, AL location. This role is part of the Low Cost Containerized Munition (LCCM) program within the Advanced Fires Project Office (AFPO), which is responsible for developing, integrating, and transitioning weapon systems for the Army. The Senior Systems Engineer will act as a technical leader, guiding requirements, architecture, integration, and test activities for LCCM systems. Key responsibilities include providing expertise in system-level rigor, leading technical reviews, and advising government leadership on engineering risks and opportunities. The position requires a strong background in systems engineering leadership on complex Department of Defense (DoD) programs, as well as the ability to mentor junior engineers and drive execution throughout the system lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of engineering experience, with significant DoD systems engineering leadership
  • Demonstrated experience leading system design, integration, and test for complex defense systems
  • Proficiency in systems engineering methodologies, digital engineering tools, and MBSE practices
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to brief senior Army and DoD leaders
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have a Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this clearance level during employment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field

Nice To Haves

  • Self-starter, requiring minimal supervision, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with directed energy systems or other advanced weapon systems
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Familiarity with Army acquisition pathways, including prototyping and rapid fielding
  • Experience leading cross-disciplinary engineering teams and coordinating with external test ranges
  • Master’s degree preferred; additional experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and validation of system requirements and architecture for LCCM systems
  • Guide system integration efforts and oversee technical performance analyses
  • Lead technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and ensure engineering rigor across the lifecycle
  • Advise program leadership on system engineering risks, opportunities, and trade-offs
  • Oversee verification and validation planning and execution for prototypes and fielded systems
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers
  • Support development of acquisition strategies and technical readiness assessments
