SAIC has an opening for an organized and motivated Senior Systems Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to grow with our company as we continue to expand our support in the modernization and development of various torpedo test equipment hardware designs as well as supporting production activities out of our Middletown, RI office. The ideal candidate should have experience developing the documentation for and leading SETR events for complex electromechanical systems including System Requirements Reviews (SRRs), System Functional Reviews (SFRs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs). The candidate should have the ability to discuss projects they have supported and/or led. The candidate should be able to self-manage/self-direct projects, and communicate regularly with customers, engineers, logisticians and technicians. Job Duties: The candidate will lead systems engineering efforts on multiple high-profile projects which involve interfacing directly with customers to define key requirements, working with the design team to prepare for and develop the documentation for all necessary SETR events, and ensuring project alignment with the full systems lifecycle: concept, design, integration, verification, validation, and transition to production. The candidate will need a broad engineering skill set, well-developed work habits, enthusiasm for standing up a formal systems engineering structure on a dynamic program with many different customers, the ability to effectively communicate systems engineering concepts to other members of the team without previous experience in it, and the ability to work through challenging projects without extensive oversight. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team of Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, Program Analysts, and technicians on the modernization and development of various torpedo test equipment hardware designs from initial development through prototyping and possible production runs. Technical writing and engineering documentation proficiency is paramount. The candidate will have to be detail oriented and possess excellent communication skills to ensure all established milestones are met across the different test equipment efforts that are being worked on simultaneously by a design team that operates across multiple SAIC offices and customer sites. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers with the incorporation of systems engineering processes, tools, and best practices from the start of each design effort through final deployment and delivery to the customer.
