About The Position

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the EPASS contract. This position is located in Kettering, OH. Job Responsibilities/Duties: Identify, describe, and apply emerging IT acquisition strategies, best practices, IT-related performance measures, and quality management in support of acquisition planning, information assurance/cybersecurity, test and evaluation processes, verification and validation processes, and/or fielding and sustaining of lT/software systems. Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications. Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications. Prepare technical documentation that defines, specifies, and recommends system/subsystem characteristics. Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action using the application of engineering principles. Perform validation of software systems, including development of analyses/evaluation criteria and procedures, analyses/evaluation of results, and related recommendations. Provide Agile and Digital system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including, but not limited to, acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight. Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes. Perform all (system) engineering according to applicable DOD, AF, AFMC directives, instructions, and manuals, to include, but not be limited to, AFI 63-101, AFMAN 63-144, AFMCI 63-1202, AFMAN 63-128, AF/ 99-103, and their updates, successors (as happens over time). Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree (MA/MS) or Doctorate from an ABET-accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other Engineering Discipline, and 10 years of experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD, or
  • BA/BS Degree from an ABET-accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other Engineering Discipline, and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD, or
  • 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, 8 of which must be in the DoD.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must possess and maintain a Tier 1/NACI clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (or associate)
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Axure equivalent
  • Current certification in Oracle/OCI products and/or databases
  • Agile/Scrum Certifications - desired
