GDIT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineering Fellow to join our team. Responsibilities include designing, planning, and evaluating physical security systems in accordance with Department of State policies and procedures. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process, including documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or similar discipline
  • 10+ years of related technical security experience or the equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification - Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret
  • User level proficiency of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD/Visio)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. (Installing/reconfiguring data center racks and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds)
  • US Citizenship Required
  • DoD SkillBridge Eligibility: Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • DoD SkillBridge Eligibility: Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
  • DoD SkillBridge Eligibility: Will receive an honorable discharge
  • DoD SkillBridge Eligibility: Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
  • DoD SkillBridge Eligibility: Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • DoD SkillBridge Eligibility: Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.

Responsibilities

  • Develops advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures
  • Troubleshoots highly complex system hardware and software issues
  • Develops training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software
  • Develops implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions
  • Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Develops performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users
  • Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies
  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
  • May serve as a team or task lead
