Leidos seeks highly qualified and trained Senior Systems Engineer with strong working knowledge of network engineering to provide expert guidance and direction underpinning Leidos on-site support to the US Army customer on Aberdeen Proving Grounds Maryland. The Digital Modernization Sector is focused on delivering performance-based IT services and repeatable solutions to include applying cloud-factory and aaS (as a Service) capabilities and integrating commercial products to provide a comprehensive digital engineering approach to IT transformation.

  • Provide expert full system engineering lifecycle support on complex data systems and networks
  • Provide strategic leadership on complex policy issues involving technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Analytics, Autonomous Systems, and Cybersecurity
  • Contribute to the strategic vision of the US Army organizations by identifying future technology trends and gaps and assist in defining priorities and aligning R&D efforts with Army modernization goals
  • Integrate hardware, software, and network solutions to enhance the Army's operational capabilities, with focus on ensuring interoperability between different systems and platforms
  • System engineering expertise may be required for some or all of following areas: system architecture and design; requirements analysis and development; data flow analysis; network design and implementation; and testing and documentation
  • Provide guidance for system development and implementation through plans assessment
  • Develop system configuration documentation, to include: designs for capacity and performance planning; performing risk assessments; and analyses of alternatives for a variety of system related issues and concerns
  • Supervise or coordinate the work of other contractor engineers or technicians on various projects
  • Analyze and propose appropriate engineering standards and processes and assist in conducting evaluations to determine suitability for project implementation and develop new or innovative approaches to technical or engineering issues
  • Support rigorous testing and validation of systems in simulated and real-world environments
  • Mentor junior systems engineers to build technical expertise within the organization and foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and guidance relevant to organization's objectives
  • Communicate complex information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well-organized manner through verbal, written, and/or visual means
  • Prepare and perform briefings appropriate for senior leadership (i.e., general officer or flag officer)
  • Support develop of standards, metrics and measures to support assessments, process improvements and operational efficiencies across the US Army and/or DoD.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess Top Secret clearance eligible SCI access by contract start
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field, and 12+ yrs. demonstrated work experience within Systems Engineering
  • Demonstrated high level of in-depth expertise in design and develop of new capabilities supporting complex system with exacting interface, performance, and security requirements
  • 10+ yrs. experience on National Security Agency (NSA) High Assurance Internet Protocol Interoperability Specification (HAIPIS) and NSA Type-I certified High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE)
  • 5+ yrs. experience with design, development, testing, and evaluation of KIV-7M, KG-175(D, G, F, X) and KSV-21 Automated Updater Kit
  • 5+ yrs. experience in CHIMERA testing
  • Demonstrated expertise in areas relevant to the US Army's mission, to include: AI and ML; Software development and systems integration; Cybersecurity and Information Assurance; Data Analytics; and Command and Control (C2) systems
  • Basic understanding of DoD acquisition processes and policies
  • Broad knowledge of Blue-space Cyber capabilities and demonstrate understanding of available Cyber infrastructure or platforms to conduct DCO
  • Ability to support timely, accurate, relevant analytical production, to include documents, summaries, issue papers, talking points, and briefings with demonstrated proficiency working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, ability to proactively multi-task and meet short deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey complex and technical data to nontechnical consumers
  • Able to work across DoD and IC agencies to support organizational goals
  • Demonstrated understanding US Army R&D organization & operations and Army CIO/G6 programmatic requirement development
  • Masters' Degree within STEM field or discipline related to Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile delivery model and DevSecOps framework
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating AI and ML into operations at any level to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operational outcomes
  • Possess advanced technical certifications within field of Systems Engineering such as Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP), or related certifications such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Practitioner Certification, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
