The role of Senior systems engineer at Picarro is to become a key member of our Manufacturing Operations team. This individual will have a hands-on approach, strong technical acuity and a willingness to drive improvements in process, product architecture, and overall system performance supporting all Picarro's products. This person will work closely with H/W and systems engineering, software engineering and R D teams to drive continuous improvement for all Picarro products, ensure they meet specifications and enable the Manufacturing Operations organization to meet or exceed revenue, gross margin and on-time delivery requirements. This person will also be instrumental in developing technical product collateral manufacturing, field support and customers. The candidate will be driven and have a proactive approach towards the end goal of delivering quality products of clear value to Picarro and our customers.

  • Become an expert in the operation of Picarro's products.
  • Characterize and exercise new products to ensure they meet specifications and ensure the successful transition of products from engineering to manufacturing to meet volume production requirements.
  • Drive development of features and process tools for production and field use.
  • Create technical product collateral material as needed.
  • Take the initiative as a technical expert, looking for and solving problems before they surface.
  • Support prototypes and evaluations of new products and the transition of new products to volume production levels.
  • Provide training on products to manufacturing, field support and applications support.
  • Lead and manage technical projects.
  • Drive continuous improvements in both product performance and manufacturing processes, using data-driven insights.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • A technical background to understand the hardware and the software that is at the heart of Picarro's technology.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical or related field (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Chemistry etc.) is required; MS or PhD is desirable.
  • Lasers and optics experience in the near and mid-infrared.
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodology.
  • Experience with coding in Python.
  • Ability to comprehend and digest complex technical and application information and distill it into simple, easy-to-understand information for sales, management and end users.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to understand innovative technologies and their applications.
  • Experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing, instrument manufacturing or similar industry.
