Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Austin Innovation Center or the Michigan IT Innovation Center three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business. The Team Our Manufacturing Systems Engineering team supports the creation, modernization, and enhancement of some of the industry’s most innovative and complex plant floor monitoring and control systems. This team designs, integrates, and supports PMC and related applications for GM Manufacturing business partners. Team members include industry-leading systems engineers, developers, and architects who use modern engineering practices and technologies to: Deliver robust production monitoring and control capabilities Modernize Windows Server, SQL Server, and GE CIMPLICITY-based systems Improve reliability, scalability, and supportability across GM plants The Role The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, modernization, and support of applications and infrastructure used for Plant Floor Monitoring & Control at GM Manufacturing plants. The person in this role must have strong business and technical acumen to understand complex manufacturing systems; evaluate, identify, recommend, and implement solutions that: Improve current PMC and related application implementations Leverage and modernize Windows Server, SQL Server, and GE CIMPLICITY platforms Integrate COTS and custom solutions to deliver business value and operational stability For this role, you are expected to have demonstrated success in systems and software project delivery, including leading technical efforts modernizing and supporting applications and environments using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies.
