About The Position

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) to support a mission-critical U.S. Coast Guard program. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience architecting, deploying, and optimizing MECM environments for efficient enterprise endpoint management. This position will be located in Alexandria, VA and is a hybrid role.

Requirements

  • High School with 9 years (or commensurate experience)
  • Clearance: Active Secret clearance
  • Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
  • MECM Expertise: Hands-on experience architecting and managing MECM environments in large-scale enterprise settings.
  • Windows Server Administration: Strong understanding of Windows Server platforms (2012–2025) and core services (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS).
  • Imaging and Deployment: Experience with Windows imaging, task sequences, and driver management.
  • Virtualization: Proficiency with VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Automation: Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell for automation and system management.
  • Documentation: Skilled in creating clear, detailed documentation for system configurations and operational procedures.
  • Test Environment Management: Experience building and maintaining lab/test environments for validation and troubleshooting.
  • Patching: Expertise managing patch cycles, update deployments, and compliance reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Coast Guard environments
  • Microsoft Certifications: Endpoint Administrator Associate, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Networking: Understanding of load balancing, network infrastructure concepts, and content distribution challenges

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain MECM environments for enterprise endpoint management.
  • Develop, test, and deploy software packages, updates, and patches using MECM.
  • Create and maintain task sequences for automated OS deployments and upgrades.
  • Build, manage, and maintain test environments to validate configurations, updates, applications, and deployment processes.
  • Lead and support patch management cycles, including scheduling, deployment, monitoring, reporting, and remediation.
  • Ensure endpoints comply with organizational security policies and standards.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for MECM client health, software distribution, imaging, and compliance issues.
  • Develop PowerShell scripts and automation solutions to streamline endpoint management tasks.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate and analyze reports on software deployments, compliance, and system health.
