About The Position

This prospective contract opportunity supports the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) mission by providing enterprise-wide Information Technology Delivery and Operations Support Services (IT DOSS). The effort encompasses a broad range of IT services required to sustain, secure, and modernize FLETC’s training and operational environments across its headquarters and training delivery points. Services span application support, server and data center operations, network and transport infrastructure, cybersecurity and operations center monitoring, IT service management, end-user computing, audiovisual and collaboration technologies, database and storage administration, and program management support. The project emphasizes reliable day-to-day operations, rapid incident response to protect training continuity, and continual service improvement aligned with ITIL-based service management practices, while supporting evolving mission needs through scalable and integrated IT solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of detailed technical experience in system engineering or related field within the last 7 years.
  • Proven experience prioritizing system outages, projects, and tasks while providing technical assistance and resolution leadership to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Ability to design and implement operational server systems and prototypes aligned to engineering data and Government requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of systems principles, protocols, and design sufficient to evaluate performance and optimize enterprise server operations.
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing systems infrastructure in a data center or enterprise hosted environment.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, vendors, and data center engineering personnel to identify, define, and solve trending or developmental problems.
  • Experience with cloud engineering and migration strategies and the ability to coordinate technical issues with data center engineering across locations.
  • Minimum 5 years of detailed technical experience in system engineering or related field within the last 7 years, plus the specific experience elements listed under Required Skills & Qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting mixed Windows and Linux enterprise server environments, including administration, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting in both platforms.
  • Experience with scripting or automation used to streamline repetitive administrative tasks and improve operational consistency.
  • Experience contributing to restore testing processes and supporting backup and recovery operations through validation activities and artifact documentation.
  • Familiarity with maintaining detailed server and application dependency mapping to support troubleshooting and change impact analysis.
  • Exposure to identity and access management dependencies that affect systems access, service accounts, and privileged access workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise server operations for Windows-based compute services, while supporting mixed-environment operations that may include Linux systems where applicable.
  • Execute server management activities including installation, configuration, administration, patching, upgrading, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of server operating systems and supporting tooling.
  • Support compute management activities that include server hardware installation and break/fix, firmware management, KVM support, rack planning, and maintaining data center diagrams and rack elevations.
  • Administer systems applications and services that provide foundational enterprise capabilities, including installation, troubleshooting, configuration, and integration support for distributed services.
  • Implement and maintain hardening baselines and security best practices for server operating systems and enterprise applications, including documenting and processing exceptions or waivers when required.
  • Maintain asset and configuration documentation for server environments, including server and application maps, service interfaces, and dependency diagrams.
  • Coordinate with backup, recovery, and storage roles to ensure recoverability, restore testing participation, and operational continuity practices support mission needs.
  • Lead outage response and complex troubleshooting, including testing alternative resolution pathways, documenting findings, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, vendors, and data center engineering to resolve infrastructure issues maintained across data center locations.
  • Support external integration activities that require coordination with DHS enterprise programs where server, identity, or systems services are dependencies.
