Draper is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the GNC System Architecture group, focusing on the development and management of requirements and interface specifications for guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems. This role is critical in mission domains such as strategic defense systems, hypersonic and space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles. The successful candidate will apply systems engineering methods within a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and/or digital engineering framework. Responsibilities include eliciting stakeholder needs, defining use cases and operational concepts, system modeling, developing requirement trees, analyzing requirements and interfaces, and managing requirements throughout the product lifecycle. The position requires coordination and participation in requirements assessments, strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design. The Senior Systems Engineer will conduct requirements engineering, reliability analysis, and maintainability evaluations, while also supporting the allocation of requirements. The role involves leading assessment efforts, analyzing results, and making recommendations for improvements. The engineer will drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction, contribute to task planning and test development, and adapt to changes in program requirements. Additionally, the engineer will lead small teams, align them towards program goals, and mentor less experienced engineers, providing constructive feedback and guidance. This position is ideal for a highly organized individual with strong communication skills and practical experience in the systems engineering process. Familiarity with MBSE and digital engineering tools/methods is essential, along with proficiency in modeling/simulation, coding languages, SysML, STPA, DOORs, and other engineering analysis tools. Knowledge of GNC, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cyber/security, and communications/encryption technologies is also beneficial. A bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field is required, with a master's degree preferred. Candidates should have 5-10 years of experience in systems engineering, particularly in requirements engineering.
