Many of our systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard. With the growth of data services some of our customer’s mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with LTE infrastructure for applications such as APX Next Smart and live mobile video transmission supplementing our traditional core voice and narrowband data networks. Note: This is a remote position with travel (25-50%) to support projects in the T4FL territory with focus in South Florida. Overview: The Systems Staff Engineer will be responsible for the public safety design and implementation of solutions for Motorola’s ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for State and Local government agencies. We are looking for Engineers who are energized by delivering solutions that truly make a difference. Note: This is a remote position with travel (25-50%) to support projects in T4FL sub territory. Engineer of Record Project Responsibilities: The Systems Staff Engineer will work with a field team of Project Management, Systems Engineers, Field Engineers, Construction Managers, and Customer Service Managers, and will be responsible for leading technical aspects of smaller assigned projects through system acceptance. The Engineer will support other Systems Engineers with tasks on medium to large projects. This involves: Design and implementation of the radio network including infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul and WAN and CEN networks. High level of customer and consultant interaction involving customer design reviews, customer witnessed staging and acceptance testing events, coverage acceptance testing, live system upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts. System buildout, configuration and acceptance testing in both lab staging and field environments Radio coverage testing, frequency analysis and interference mitigation Radio system licensing (FCC/Industry) Preparation of system fleet map, encryption and radio programming templates Complete system documentation Live system cutovers and upgrades
