As the Senior Systems Engineer – Hardware Platform, you'll be central to ensuring our Dexcom products meet the highest standards. Join our collaborative Systems Engineering team and contribute to technology that empowers users to manage their health with confidence. Where you come in: You will author and meticulously document detailed, traceable product requirements in Jama Connect tool for CGM wearable devices, aligned with INCOSE guidelines, covering key aspects like robustness, performance, accuracy, and biocompatibility. You will develop and maintain hardware requirements, interface specifications, verification traces and design input documents at the system and subsystem level. You will contribute significantly to the generation, maintenance, and configuration management (CM) of the Master Trace Matrix (MTM) and Verification Trace Matrix (VTM), ensuring comprehensive bidirectional traceability across all system levels (hardware and embedded software). You will apply interdisciplinary systems engineering approaches to design, develop, and verify integrated hardware/firmware solutions for wearable medical devices, executing tasks under the technical direction of senior staff. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (ME, EE, Firmware, Partners, Test) to ensure robust hardware and firmware integration, ensuring the overall accuracy and reliability of the CGM system. You will lead and conduct risk assessments (FMEA) to proactively identify and mitigate potential hardware-related risks. You will actively participate in design reviews, providing key technical input to ensure hardware designs meet all defined design inputs. You will ensure system designs meet the required performance, reliability, and accuracy metrics. You will maintain comprehensive records of all requirements, verification and validation trace matrices, design decisions, and risk assessments within Jama Connect.

Requirements

  • You are familiar with ISO 13485, 14971 standards and are proficient in writing technical Hardware and System requirements per INCOSE/EARS standards for wearable medical devices.
  • You have demonstrated experience in authoring, developing, tracing, and managing hardware/firmware requirements using the Jama Connect requirements management tool, including the generation and maintenance of master and verification trace matrices.
  • You are a master collaborator, effortlessly working with engineers from various disciplines, including mechanical, software, test engineering, hardware, manufacturing, and firmware design.
  • You are a clear and concise communicator, confidently conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Your leadership shines through as you influence and guide cross-functional teams in adopting best-in-class systems engineering practices, including robust configuration management strategies.
  • You are adept at supporting senior engineers and driving project success.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, readily adapting to evolving needs and working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or master’s degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years’ experience

Nice To Haves

  • You possess an INCOSE Associate or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP/CSEP) certification or other relevant Requirements Engineer certification.
  • You have familiarity with AI/ML copilot Large Language Models (LLMs) for Systems Engineering applications.
