About The Position

The Computing Solutions Department is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer for the development of the next generation product line solutions in Cedar Rapids, IA. The Computing Solutions organization is focused on the development of solutions that can be applied across a wide variety of Avionics products in safety critical commercial and military applications. Our team is responsible for the development, certification and sustainment of these solutions. We are seeking candidates with a proven history in specifying, designing, verifying, and testing electronic systems.

Requirements

  • Experience with Earned Value concepts and metrics.
  • Experience with the avionics equipment certification process.
  • Experience with safety critical system, hardware, or software development (e.g. DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP4754A/B).
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Collins Management System for bid and pursuit work.
  • Experience working with and testing embedded hardware and software.
  • Experience developing automated tests utilizing scripting.
  • Excellent communication skills for both internal and external customers.
  • Adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborating with teammates to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a system test strategy and manage certification activities, ensuring technologies meet the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.
  • Plan and oversee system certification events, from initial design reviews to final compliance checks.
  • Drive product architecture discussions, focusing on designing systems that are effective and certifiable.
  • Maintain oversight into testing equipment and resources, ensuring everything is in place for successful project execution.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to the team and stakeholders for all certification-related queries.
