EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Systems/Automation Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division within the Emerging Technologies & Qualifications group. This role supports Operations Engineering teams through product qualifications, automation, and solutions design. The primary focus is automating repetitive tasks, buildouts, and deployments using various scripting languages and third-party tools. Additionally, the engineer will qualify new Off-The-Shelf (OTS) products, develop proof of concepts, and deliver production-ready solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with Red Hat or equivalent Enterprise Linux operating system deployment, administration, and solutions engineering.
  • 5 years of experience with Ansible Automation Platform and Satellite.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong network engineering background.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes and other Container concepts.
  • Subject matter expert in virtualization solutions such as VMWare and OpenShift.
  • Proficiency in scripting with Python and Bash.
  • Strong independent work ethic and ability to lead and drive projects.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
  • Understanding of BIND DNS and Unix authentication (PAM).
  • Familiarity with Network File Storage/Network Attached Storage support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop automation scripts for tasks, jobs, deployments, and data gathering using Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
  • Create solutions for platform, operating system, and container deployments.
  • Qualify new products from third-party vendors related to platform, security, storage, and network engineering.
  • Develop support models, sustaining needs, and lifecycle management for new third-party products.
