About The Position

Independently installs and maintains server hardware, storage systems, server-based operating systems, system support software, utility software, application software and other hardware and software components. Provides support for complex non-application software issues and certain application software issues. Administers system-level security functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a computer related discipline is preferred.
  • Requires (5) years of IT experience, (3) of which must be as a network or system administrator responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of network and/or server hardware and software products in a medium to large scale installation.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, maintains, supports and documents server, storage and affiliated hardware and software configurations.
  • May direct the work activity of System Administrators, Network Administrators and PC Technicians.
  • Troubleshoots and brings to resolution server-based software problems.
  • Administers and supports Microsoft Office 365 Applications
  • Administers and supports Vmware Infrastructure
  • Ensures accurate records, documents and diagrams of the server and storage environment are maintained.
  • Makes recommendations for changes to improve service and/or contain cost.
  • Installs, maintains and supports server-based system software and certain non-system software while minimizing service impact.
  • Removes and properly disposes of defective or obsolete equipment in compliance with SECI procedures.
  • Installs, maintains and supports server, storage and associated peripheral hardware while minimizing service impact.
  • Refers software failures to external vendor for resolution. Tracks resolution and keeps management informed.
  • Monitors server and storage systems' performance and capacity, making recommendations to management to improve service delivery.
  • Participate in server-based system design and architecture.
  • Conduct security reviews, identify issues and make recommendations to improve system security.
  • Tracks and reports the progress of all assigned tasks ensuring management's awareness of project status.
  • Contributes to and conducts training programs.
  • In the absence of an incumbent System Administrator, Network Administrator or Senior Network Administrator, may be assigned to perform duties associated with that job function.
  • Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.
