About The Position

RTL Networks has an exciting opportunity for a DoD SECRET cleared Senior Systems Administrator (Unix/Linux) to join our team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). This position will be supporting NSWCDD’s mission to modernize, optimize, and simplify its IT environment and mature its IT Service Management (ITSM) practices to achieve measurable improvements and desired outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master’s level degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • Six (6) years of professional experience in Unix and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems.
  • Experience in system backup and recovery; basic software management; security management and library management; installation and configuration of hardware; operational systems and COTS software; operating computer systems in different operating environments; and sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network trouble shooting and resource allocation.
  • Qualified experience in different network protocols including TCP/IP and major network security tools such as: firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attach methods and latest detection methods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
  • Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for clearance at this location.
  • Applicants must have a valid driver’s license for this position and will be subject to verification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides system administration and operations support across multiple environments (Windows, Linux, UNIX, macOS, Solaris, AIX, etc.), including installation, patching, backup, recovery, and compliance with DISA STIG and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Manages hardware lifecycle activities such as diagnostics, vendor coordination, upgrades, relocations, and technology refresh planning, while updating asset databases and documentation.
