About The Position

We are looking for a highly qualified Senior System Test Engineer to shape and influence the evolution of High Voltage Energy Management System Test space on our progressive Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) team with the primary focus on Software Defined Vehicle 2.0 (SDV 2.0) architecture. High Voltage Energy Management System covers multiple sub-systems related to HV Rechargeable Energy Storage Solutions (RESS) and HV Bus for our electrified vehicle portfolio at General Motors. This role will focus on End to End (E2E) test strategy development for the High Voltage Battery Product and the successful candidate will serve as a functional expert within the BHV ART, with particular emphasis on Software Quality. We are looking for someone who understands the value of holistic solutions across engineering domains and has a passion for software development & built in quality philosophy with special emphasis on test automation. The High Voltage Energy Management Senior System Test Engineer will: Lead built-in quality initiatives within Battery Systems Control space and improve on test coverage and quality. Lead test environment readiness (HIL, ChIL, BSL, and Virtual Environments) for System testing. Communicate System Test vision, roadmap, status, and improvement opportunities to VMEC leadership. Lead cross-functional projects with Systems Engineering, System Safety, Calibration and SW development/release teams to ensure test readiness for programs adopting SDV 2.0 architecture. This includes (and not limited to) strategy development for test builds, SW configurations, CI/CD pipeline etc. Stays abreast of the current industry trends and define GM direction Collaborate with BHV ART, Product Quad, and Program Management Team to support different Agile ceremonies (Backlog refinement, develop acceptance criteria, workload estimate etc.) Promote ongoing process enhancement and emphasize innovation in system testing by leveraging test automation and generative AI/large language models (LLM)

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Automotive software design, microcontroller architectures and System Engineering principles.
  • BS in Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Computer Science or other applicable Engineering Focus
  • Extensive knowledge and hands on experience on SW test automation and associated tools/scripting languages (Autobot/Robot, Python, C++ etc.).
  • Hands on experience working in different test environments (Hardware in loop (HIL), Software in Loop (SIL), Virtual (CoSIM, Virtual ECU) etc.) and associated tools (Vehicle Spy, Canalyzer, Dspace/Control Desk etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of embedded software development using C and associated tools (Jira, DOORs, Rhapsody, GIT etc.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Battery System Controls and Software Development Life Cycle
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (ETHERNET, CAN, LIN)
  • Experience with data logging tools (Vehicle Spy, CANALYZER Tools etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software requirements
  • Strong experience with Agile software development workflows
  • Technical knowledge of software Calibrations and the impact on system functionality
  • High level of knowledge of state-of-the-art technology and competitive products
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Automotive vehicle level electrical architectures
  • Ability to provide high level summary for complex problems to leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience with Automotive software design, microcontroller architectures and System Engineering principles.
  • Master’s degree/PhD in electrical/computer/software engineering
  • Experience with vehicle and bench validation at component or subsystem level
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal direction
