At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard – from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features. Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale. The Role As a Senior System Safety Engineer, you will support the safety of General Motors’ high-voltage power distribution systems from concept through validation. You will operate in a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment where safety is designed in—not added later. You will apply system safety processes and analytical methods throughout development to ensure high‑voltage architectures meet functional safety requirements across all operating, environmental, and real‑world customer usage conditions. You will serve as a technical authority for system safety, translating complex hazards into clear, actionable safety requirements aligned with ISO 26262 and internal GM safety policies. You will partner closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to embed safety into system architecture, hardware, software, and validation strategies, helping ensure GM’s electrified platforms deliver safe, robust, and reliable performance at scale.
