About The Position

This is a full-time position that requires strong troubleshooting skills and a customer service focus. This position will be based out of Trinity’s Waltham MA office. Reporting to IT’s Associate Director US, the Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting Trinity’s cloud‑first infrastructure, with a focus on Azure and AWS environments. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of core IT systems, including identity, compute, storage, networking, and backup platforms across the enterprise. The Senior Systems Administrator will oversee cloud-based backups and disaster recovery workflows, ensuring protection and recoverability of corporate data. The position also participates in a 24×7 tiered support rotation to maintain uptime and rapid response for critical systems. Additional responsibilities include conducting cloud and endpoint vulnerability management, executing patching and configuration compliance across the environment, and contributing to the development, review, and maintenance of IT standards, runbooks, and operating procedures. This role works closely with Database Administrators, Help Desk staff, and other IT engineering teams to design, implement, and support modern IT solutions that meet business and security requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, not required
  • 4+ years of advanced systems administrative support
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Active Directory / Entra ID, identity governance, and hybrid identity models
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and security/compliance features
  • Experience supporting cloud storage, managed databases, and backup solutions (Azure Backup, AWS Backup, cloud snapshots, etc.)
  • Understanding of AWS and Azure networking, including VPC/VNet design, routing, load balancing, firewalling, and secure connectivity
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V) for remaining legacy workloads
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, SFTP)
  • Experience working in 24×7 operational support or on‑call rotations
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting, especially PowerShell, Bash, and CLI tools for cloud environments
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform) and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, GitOps, configuration management)

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise with Microsoft Windows Server administration in cloud and hybrid environments
  • Experience with Linux administration and basic familiarity with GCP

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for cloud-based system administration, ensuring performance, reliability, and security across Azure and AWS environments
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enforce infrastructure standards, cloud governance policies, and security best practices
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud services and supporting systems, including compute, identity, networking, storage, monitoring, and security tooling
  • Monitor system performance, health, and capacity using cloud-native observability tools (LogicMonitor, CloudWatch, Log Analytics, etc.)
  • Plan and execute lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, configuration compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Manage user identities, access controls, and system permissions in alignment with Zero Trust principles
  • Provide expert-level support for escalated service desk and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and root-cause analysis
  • Assist in ongoing vulnerability management, remediation, and security posture improvement
  • Support business continuity through cloud‑based backup, disaster recovery, and failover planning
  • Provide knowledge sharing, documentation, and user education to strengthen organizational technical capability
