About The Position

Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator in our Concord Administrative Office.  This role is full-time, 40 hours per week. SUMMARY Responsible for the health, maintenance, monitoring, and upgrading of all Windows servers and networking devices. Provide Tier 3 support for all servers, workstations, and network systems. Design and implement system and network solutions based on organizational needs. Manage and administer VMware Environment, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Veeam backups.  Familiar with Cylance Anti-Virus, and general systems (both on-prem and cloud-based) administration including Windows 2016, 2019, and 2022 Server and all new systems and applications.  Extensive Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp administrative experience required (including current certification).   Environment is a 19-site LAN/WAN with desktop systems primarily on a combination of thin computing and Windows 10 platforms. Significant support is required for thin and thick client workstations (Wyse and Citrix) using Electronic Health Record technology in a clinical setting.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science (or a related field), ten or more years of experience in IT-related support roles (including prior experience as a Senior Systems Engineer) in an enterprise environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to aid in storage capacity calculations and forecasting.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong understanding and solid comprehension and experience managing infrastructures that must include Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp, VMware, VMware VCenter, Active Directory, Group Policies, Windows 2016, 2019, and 2022 Server and Windows 10 / 11, Exchange 2019.
  • Office 365 preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP and TCP/IP troubleshooting including BGP and other routing protocols.
  • Prior experience interfacing with Microsoft SQL 2008/2012/2016, Storage Systems (Dell Apex, PureSystems, NetApp, etc.), and Meraki Firewalls.
  • Ten years or greater prior work experience as a senior-level systems engineer is required.
  • Must have reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver’s License and insurance.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills (identify, research, and resolve technical problems)
  • Ability to communicate well with management, users, and vendors, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent understanding of a network riding on an SDWan backbone, with an offsite data center environment.
  • Working knowledge of network monitoring tools, such as IPMonitor, or other similar tools.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, meet deadlines and meet the established Service Level Agreement for IT support.
  • Strongly motivated with good organizational skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to travel to various PPNorCal facilities.
  • Knowledge and comprehension of HIPAA and Information Security related processes necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Citrix certifications, Microsoft Certifications, and Meraki certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage server administration and maintenance, including the hardware and applications such as MS Exchange / o365, Teams, MS SQL Server, SharePoint, Desktop Central Mange Engine suite, and Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop environments.
  • Thorough understanding of intricacies involved with managing an Active Directory infrastructure including digital certificates (PKI), DHCP, DNS, GPO, and secure protocols including SSL/TLS.
  • Thorough experience with managing and administering Dell Apex storage systems supporting VMware Hosts and XenDesktop Instances.
  • Manage and monitor Anti-Virus servers and clients – must possess the ability to independently identify/ resolve issues.
  • Support and administer remote data center replication services and infrastructure.
  • Manage and administer network infrastructure including troubleshooting installation problems on Cisco, Dell, Meraki, switches, firewalls, and routers.
  • Define and document best practices and support procedures.
  • Mentor and cross-train team members on existing and new technology.
  • Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments, and contingency plans.
  • Work in conjunction with Sr. Management on maintaining our Disaster Recovery /Business Continuity plans.
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved promptly with limited disruption.
  • Dell enclosure and blades; VMware server hosts and guests as well as VCenter and Citrix Netscaler Gateways.
  • Manage data backup and recovery/disaster recovery preparedness.
  • Coordinate with and facilitate affiliate consultants in their efforts to configure systems and resolve server configuration issues.
  • Install and deploy new software releases, system upgrades, and patches, and conduct software conversions and audits regularly using Desktop Central’s Manage Engine.
  • Responsible for advanced network printer setup and troubleshooting.
  • Provide an advanced level of support and troubleshooting for end-user issues as well as assist with first-level calls as needed.
  • Resolve software incompatibility problems and/or engage vendors as needed.
  • Provide a leadership role in tracking software/hardware licensing compliance.
  • Troubleshoot or assume ownership of escalated and more complex Helpdesk tickets, resolve complex issues promptly and independently, and share solutions with the IT team.
  • Assist and mentor PC Support Technicians and contractors as applicable.
  • Resolve 3rd party technical support issues.
