About The Position

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring a Senior System Administrator for an exciting opportunity located in Battle Creek, MI. Job Description and Responsibilities The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stable operation, security, and performance of in-house software systems and network infrastructure supporting the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) suite of applications and capabilities. This role oversees the planning, development, installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise systems across multiple locations. The position requires advanced technical expertise, leadership, and a proactive approach to automation, compliance, and mission readiness within secure environments. The position requires excellent customer service skills and technical ability. Experience operating in a Government or Military culture is preferred.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of specialized experience. (Specialized experience is defined as progressive experience in the field of Information Processing, where the majority are specialized in numerous specialized Information Processing disciplines involving a range of hardware/ software solutions, at least four years of which are concentrated, hand-on experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving issues with various software.)
  • BA/BS in a technical discipline
  • 8570/8140 IAT Level II Certification (eg. CompTIA Security+)
  • Computing Environment Certificate (eg. Azure, IBM MQ, or Windows Web Server IIS)
  • Minimum Clearance Top Secret
  • Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings.
  • May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.

  • Experience supporting current and future transitions to various operating environments to include Cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, install, configure, operate, and maintain enterprise servers, storage systems, applications, and network infrastructure supporting CAGE systems across multiple locations.
  • Administer and manage Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, GPO, VMware, Windows, and Linux environments to ensure system stability, performance, and high availability.
  • Perform capacity planning, system optimization, hardware/software upgrades, patch management, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Implement and validate security controls, including STIG compliance, RMF participation, vulnerability management, firewall administration, and threat monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible) to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, network diagrams, OS images, and configuration baselines.
  • Provide advanced Tier 2/3 troubleshooting and incident response, including performance monitoring, backup/disaster recovery management, and detailed outage reporting.
  • Organize and direct day-to-day system administration activities, providing mentorship, training, and skills assessment for system administrators and end users as needed.
  • Recommend and implement technology solutions aligned with organizational strategy, ensuring fault tolerance, load balancing, and mission readiness.
  • Experience supporting weekend/ after hour maintenance upgrades on system servers.
  • Experience supporting maintenance upgrades performed by external entities such as Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Defense Enterprise Computing Center (DECC), Azure Government Cloud, and/or AWS Cloud.
