About The Position

Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior System Administrator to support KITS and our government customer. This is a Remote Opportunity. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. The Senior System Administrator will support the Global Public Affairs Office of the US Department of State, focusing on the Architecture, Engineering, Operations, Development, UI/UX, User Training, and Agile Project Management of their web assets hosted on Cloud Architecture running a Content Management System (WordPress). The role involves serving on the engineering team to support a WordPress site on AWS running a Kubernetes CI/CD pipeline, collaborating with the cloud architect to implement, support, and maintain all environments across the web assets, including lower environments. A migration to WordPress VIP is expected, requiring the candidate to learn how to configure the Platform-As A Service (PaaS) correctly to achieve uptime, monitoring, and business continuity goals of the enterprise. The Senior System Administrator will manage a production environment running WordPress on AWS that handles high traffic and traffic spikes, establishing monitoring and operational procedures to ensure business continuity. The role requires availability outside of standard hours for infrequent production troubleshooting and acting as the Tier 2 point of contact for Help Desk support. The candidate will maintain, support, and troubleshoot all other environments, including developer, testing, and pre-production environments using Kubernetes or WordPress VIP utilities. Close collaboration with the AWS Architect, Product Owner, Scrum Master, engineers, and security engineers is essential to maintain and implement engineering plans and troubleshoot production problems. The candidate must possess knowledge of best practice operational procedures regarding security policy implementation, WAF firewall rules, user authentication, and business continuity, documenting those standards as necessary. Additionally, the role involves participating in a team that coordinates and implements various solutions required to support the AWS Cloud, implementing proof of concepts/pilots for various solutions, developing operational plans, and creating documentation and implementation plans for solutions used to access and leverage AWS and WordPress VIP.
