CGI has an immediate need for a Senior Sybase Database Administrator Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting one of the largest customers. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an agile environment using emerging technologies. We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!. This role is located at a client site in Reston, VA or Plano, TX. A hybrid working model is acceptable.

  • Manage Sybase environments across on-premises and AWS cloud platforms.
  • Automate database functions and support production systems.
  • Perform high-complexity software development and defect resolution.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders to meet business needs.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Sybase ASE and Transact-SQL.
  • Strong background in Linux-based Sybase hosting, both on-premises and in AWS cloud.
  • Proficiency in AutoSys scheduler, replication setup, high availability (HA) configurations, and RBAC.
  • Skilled in Sybase database upgrades and migrations across various Linux versions in AWS.
  • Solid experience in Unix Shell scripting and Python for automation.
  • Proven ability to automate database functions such as backups, monitoring, and configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with production support and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and technical presentation abilities.
  • Capable of managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Familiarity with SDLC and modern programming languages (e.g., Java, J2EE, SQL, C++, PowerBuilder).
  • Experience with application development in enterprise environments.
  • Professional certifications in database administration or cloud technologies.
