About The Position

Responsible for leading and managing the seasonal swim team program, including supervising coaching staff, coordinating volunteers, overseeing meet operations, and ensuring effective communication with parents and participants. Develop and implement practice plans that promote growth and competitive success while maintaining a safe and positive environment. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated working knowledge of all skills and techniques related to stroke refinement and a comprehensive knowledge of swim team organization, league rules and requirements, and competition workouts.SKILL: Demonstrated skill in the operation of the equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job. ABILITY: Strive for excellence without winning being the priority; work tactfully with parents; motivate students in a positive way; communicate effectively with the general public and co-workers; make quick decisions when needed; follow and enforce established rules and regulations; work flexible hours that include M-F 6:00 a.m. – 11 a.m. and Saturday mornings and afternoons. Additional hours may be assigned for organized team activities, parent meetings, private lessons, and stroke clinics.PREFERRED Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Experience in team management and program management. Knowledge and prior experience using SwimTopia, Team Manager, and Meet Manager.TRAINING: High School diploma or equivalent.EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in competition swimming preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive: Lead and supervise all swim team practices and meets, ensuring a safe and positive environment Serve as the primary liaison between the City and BVSSL, ensuring smooth communication and adherence to league standards. Supervise and mentor assistant coaches, ensuring practices are structured to develop swimmers’ skills and foster growth; ensure all coaching staff adhere to SafeSport guidelines.Build and manage meet lineups and event entries using league-approved software (Team Manager, Meet Manager) Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for meets and team events, including timers, scorekeepers, and various other roles. Ensure all equipment is available, properly set up, and functioning for practices and meets. Serve as the primary point of contact for parents; provide timely updates on schedules, policies, meet expectations, and swimmer progress via email, newsletters, and team platforms. Monitor and enforce all safety protocols during practices and meets; work closely with pool management to ensure proper coverage and coordination on Emergency Action Plans. Performs related work as required and assigned. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years old SafeSport Certified CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications within two (2) weeks from date of hire
