About The Position

Senior Survey Technician Westwood Professional Services, Inc. Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Survey Technician to join our team. This position will assist Professional Surveyors with CAD production, survey research, boundary analysis, exhibit preparation, legal description preparation, and survey computations

Requirements

  • Strong listening, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in production of ALTA surveys, boundary analysis, topographic surveys, preparation of exhibits and legal descriptions, plat preparation, and field crew preparation.
  • Proficient in operating AutoCAD Civil 3D for production activities and familiarity with GIS concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, support project coordination, and interact with other services.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Seven years of land surveying experience is preferred.
  • Five years of Civil 3D or related software experience is preferred.
  • Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff.
  • Understanding of survey field procedures and the operation of survey field equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of study
  • SIT or CST Certification or ability to become a Professional Surveyor
  • Experience drafting Wind, Solar, and Power Delivery projects
  • Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff
  • Field experience searching for/recovering land survey monuments
  • Ability to travel and remain on a project site or other Westwood office for extended periods
  • Ability to utilize survey field equipment

Responsibilities

  • Assists Project Surveyors and Project Leads with CAD production, research, legal description and easement preparation, deliverables review, computations, and other survey-related responsibilities.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and plots boundary and easement descriptions from title documents and historical land records.
  • Performs self and peer review QA/QC checks.
  • Coordinates with field crews and office staff.
  • Travels occasionally for courthouse research and field crew support.
  • Leads by example – displays solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
  • Drives innovation and efficiency in CAD production processes.
  • Handles multiple priorities and projects well.
  • Stays current on service-specific trends, technology, software, hardware, and equipment.
  • Ensures division, regional, and company policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and mentoring to project team staff as needed.
  • Lead technical training for multiple offices.
  • Consistently exercises independent judgment and demonstrates critical thinking skills.
  • Training of junior technical staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
