About The Position

The Senior Surgical Technician position at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center is a Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Evening Shift role. This non-licensed health care employee performs the surgical scrub role under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The duties involve preparing for procedures, assisting surgeons intra-operatively, and managing instruments and supplies post-procedure. The role provides patient care to premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults. Requirements

• Successfully completed training as a surgical technician at an accredited school
• National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (Upon hire)
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association (Upon hire)
• 3 years Experience as a Surgical Technician in Operating Room

Responsibilities

• Review preference lists and pick the supplies and instruments for a procedure
• Perform a surgical scrub and prepare the back table with the appropriate sterile instrumentation and supplies
• Provide support intra-operatively by anticipating the surgeon's needs and passing him/her the appropriate instrumentation and supplies when needed during the case
• Complete the cycle by taking instruments and equipment to the decontamination area at the end of the procedure and putting away left over supplies and equipment
• Provide patient care to premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle and older adults
