About The Position

The Senior Substation Engineer at Leidos will be responsible for designing and executing substation electrical projects for electric utilities, working with voltages ranging from 12kV to 500kV. This role offers the opportunity to engage in a growing field within the power systems industry, particularly in relation to renewable energy integration. Candidates will utilize their expertise in digital logic design and AC/DC circuits to contribute to impactful projects while collaborating with a diverse team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
• Four (4+) or more years of related substation physical design experience for Senior-Level
• Eight (8+) or more years of related substation physical design experience for Lead-Level
• Experience with grounding studies and lightning protection
• Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams and clients
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
• High level of computer competency
• Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites

Nice To Haves

• Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Working knowledge of protection and control design
• Experience with bus calculation
• Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS
• Master's degree in a related field

Responsibilities

• Execute substation physical projects
• Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects
• Read and design substation physical drawings including one-line, three-line, plan-section, foundation, and grounding drawings
• Create and check bill of materials for substation physical projects
• Attend site visits at customer locations
• Collaborate with a design team of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians to implement design according to client standards
