We are seeking a Senior Substation Designer with technical experience in the design of HV substations for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers. In this role you will support the delivery of substation design projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for electric utilities, contractors and developers. This position can be worked out of our Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle offices. Requirements

  • Associate Degree in technology or related discipline
  • Atleast 6 years of related experience.
  • Proven experience in 15kV through 345kV physical utility substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
  • Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools - MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing substation design in BIM software (Inventor, SDS-P4A, Primtech) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare 3D models and 2D drawings of HV substations including: single‐line diagrams, substation physical layouts, conduit and cable plans and details, grounding grid plan and details, lightning protection and yard lighting plans, and bills of materials.
  • Lead, coach and mentor junior designers and CAD technicians to deliver substation design projects.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to develop a fully coordinated design.
  • Work with engineers and incorporate feedback into design package.
  • Interpret and incorporate design codes and client specifications related to design requirements.
  • Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
  • Execute changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups to project deliverables.
  • Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, models, and ensure all project-related information is stored in a logical and well-structural manner.
