The Massie Project Digitizing Intern will write metadata for and digitize the William Massie papers as part of the CLIR grant, Bearing Witness. Materials to be digitized may include correspondence and other documents and bound volumes. The intern will use digitization equipment, including a PhaseOne camera with CaptureOne and Photoshop software and an Epson flatbed scanner. The intern will maintain statistics and meet regularly with digitization staff. This internship is offered by the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, a special collections library, archive, and museum at the University of Texas at Austin. The Center facilitates research and education by acquiring, preserving, and making accessible research collections, and by sponsoring various academic and public initiatives. Internships at the Briscoe Center aim to acquaint participants with its resources, services, and operations, providing experience with specific projects that enrich their graduate studies and research. Interns contribute to arranging, describing, and preserving archival collections, cataloging books, working at the reference desk, fabricating exhibitions, and enhancing the Center's website. The Center is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and making available documentary and material culture evidence encompassing key themes in Texas and U.S. history for researchers, students, and the public.
