This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Project Engineer to join our LC36 Launch Complex construction team. In this role, you will serve as the technical lead for all structural engineering aspects of launch pad construction, providing specialized expertise in structural systems implementation, analysis, and quality verification. You will work closely with construction superintendents, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure structural components meet Blue Origin's exacting standards for safety, quality, and performance in this mission-critical aerospace facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with substantial coursework and expertise in structural engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with structural emphasis
  • 10+ years of demonstrable structural engineering experience with at least 5 years in field engineering
  • Proven expertise in structural analysis, construction methods, and failure mechanisms
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concrete reinforcement, structural steel, and foundation systems
  • Experience with industrial structure construction including heavy foundations, equipment supports, and dynamic loads
  • Proficiency interpreting structural drawings, specifications, and building codes
  • Demonstrated success resolving complex structural field issues during construction
  • Strong technical writing skills for engineering documentation and formal correspondence
  • Ability to work in an active construction environment with occasional non-standard hours

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • SE (Structural Engineer) license in addition to PE
  • Experience with launch pad, test stand, or other aerospace ground facilities
  • Expertise with specialized structures subject to extreme loading conditions (blast, vibration, thermal)
  • Familiarity with AISC, ACI, and specialized aerospace structural requirements
  • Experience with finite element analysis software for field modification verification
  • Background in structural retrofit and modification of existing facilities
  • Knowledge of construction administration processes in aerospace/defense settings

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the structural engineering technical authority during construction of LC36B facilities
  • Provide dedicated structural engineering expertise for all reinforced concrete, steel, and specialty structures
  • Evaluate complex structural field issues and develop engineering solutions that maintain design intent
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change proposals specifically related to structural elements
  • Perform detailed field inspections to verify critical structural work meets design requirements
  • Lead structural problem resolution between design engineers, contractors, and construction teams
  • Verify structural connections, reinforcement placement, and foundation systems prior to placement/installation
  • Assess and approve structural modifications needed to accommodate field conditions
  • Monitor structural testing programs including concrete strength testing, bolt torque verification, and weld inspections
  • Participate in structural risk assessments and failure mode analyses during construction
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of structural verifications and approvals
