About The Position

Osborn Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for our Columbus office. The successful candidate will have 5-10 years’ experience in the planning, design, development, and construction phases of a variety of project types. This position reports directly to the Manager of Structural Engineering and will work closely with the directors, managers, and engineering staff to ensure that our client’s needs and expectations are exceeded. Osborn is a fully integrated multi-disciplined design firm that uses a specialized team approach to engineering projects. These teams are comprised of a staff of more than 350 professionals that provide designs for all phases of a wide range of projects. Osborn has specialists in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and life safety, technology engineering, transportation and commissioning. Requirements

  • BS Structural Engineering
  • 5-10 years of structural design experience
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as REVIT, RISA 3D, RISA Floor, ADAPT.
  • Proficient Knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices – IBC, AISC, ACI, NDS, AISI
  • Strong Technical knowledge – Concrete, Steel, Wood, Masonry and Cold-form
  • Midrise Multifamily or commercial office buildings design

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Post tension design is a plus
  • Experience in designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects is a plus
  • PE/SE License Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Structural design with MEPFC consultants
  • Coordinating Architect, Clients and Contractors.
  • Maintain client relationship
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages in design
  • Write project specifications
  • Manage/Help production of documents for the project in Revit / AutoCAD
  • Perform detailed design and analysis of the project using either RISA suite, Tedds or Enercalc
  • Gravity – Roof, Floors, Walls and Foundations
  • Lateral – Main Lateral load resisting elements + Components and Cladding
  • Perform cost estimation and value engineering when required
  • Perform site visit for collecting existing information or site observations
  • Respond to permit comments, RFIs and Change orders
  • Attend project coordination meetings
  • Help with proposal writing and fee estimation
  • Perform QAQC on projects done by other engineers
  • Review shop drawings and inspection reports
  • Help with maintaining project schedule
  • Excellent organizations and communication skills
