About The Position

The Senior Structural Engineer at Colliers Engineering & Design will be responsible for designing and implementing structural engineering solutions for various building projects. This role requires a strong background in structural analysis and design principles, as well as a thorough understanding of building codes. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment and will also mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited University.
  • 10+ years of professional structural engineering experience required.
  • AutoCAD proficiency required.
  • Proficient in Revit required.
  • Possess an intermediate to advanced understanding of structural design software such as RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, SAFE, PROFIS, etc.
  • Understanding of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design principles.
  • Knowledge of current building and material design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE7, AISC360, ACI318, ACI 530 or NDS.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively on a team.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations with the aid of computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations.
  • Create structural design plans and details in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Coach and mentor more junior staff.
  • Perform site visits, make observations of ongoing construction progress, and survey the structural components of existing buildings.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFI's.
  • Perform QA/QC related tasks.
