About The Position

WSP is currently looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer - Bridges to join our Transportation Group in Raleigh, NC office! This is an exciting opportunity to provide technical design for both small and large-scale projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer, preferably in North Carolina or ability to obtain NC PE.
  • Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and application to project work-related issues.
  • Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving engineering principles.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance to junior team members.
  • Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, and discipline-specific design software.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • NCDOT Bridge design experience and familiarity with the latest NCDOT manuals and standards.
  • A member of and/or actively participating in local professional practice organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional structural engineering analysis and design of transportation structures, such as bridges and retaining walls.
  • Apply high-level structural techniques for various phases of projects including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, and construction.
  • Work as part of a team of engineers to design and check bridge superstructure and substructures.
  • Develop preliminary and final plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, subconsultants, and Clients.
  • Utilize OpenBridge Software.
  • Coordinate, review and provide design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain research, concepts, and recommendations.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on various projects.
  • Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
