This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Structural Designer 2 - Nuclear Power in Washington. In this role, you will take a leading part in the design and development of complex structural systems for nuclear power projects, producing detailed 3D layouts and models for steel and reinforced concrete structures. You will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and constructability across all deliverables. The position offers opportunities to mentor junior designers, resolve modeling conflicts, and contribute to high-impact, innovative projects in the nuclear energy sector. Remote collaboration and independent project execution are key, with a focus on delivering high-quality, safety-compliant structural designs that support advanced nuclear technology.

  • Develop detailed structural design layouts and 3D models for steel framing, concrete walls, foundations, and related structural components.
  • Utilize advanced 3D modeling tools and databases to generate design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists.
  • Act as a lead designer, coordinating and mentoring other team members throughout the design process.
  • Identify and resolve clashes or discrepancies in the 3D models, reporting status and progress to project leads.
  • Review and provide guidance on vendor drawings, interface points, and integration with other disciplines.
  • Ensure that structural designs meet engineering requirements, safety standards, and project timelines.
  • Participate in design planning, execution, and quality assurance to deliver accurate, constructible models.
  • 10+ years of experience in structural plant design, including steel and reinforced concrete systems.
  • Expertise in Hexagon’s SmartPlant 3D (S3D) modeling software and SPF database.
  • Experience in clash detection resolution, parametric component setup, and plant data management.
  • Strong ability to interface with engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Proficiency in reviewing structural layouts, connections, rebar detailing, and foundations.
  • Mentorship and leadership skills to guide less experienced designers and drafters.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex structural design tasks efficiently.
  • MicroStation proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
