About The Position

STV, a national consulting engineering, architectural and planning firm is hiring in our Transportation Division. We are seeking a Senior Structural-Bridge Engineer on a full-time basis who is an expert in the field, who uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues. This individual will be responsible to perform design of new and the rehabilitation of bridges and structures, quality assurance, and the mentoring of staff. The work will include highway bridges, railroad bridges, and transportation facilities structures in one of our New Jersey offices - Lawrenceville or Newark. It is STV policy that some positions are designated as Hybrid. This position will be designated as hybrid where you will be expected to be in your designated office 3 days per week. One of those days must be a Monday or Friday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license (PE) in the state of NJ is required.
  • Other regional state PE's are acceptable.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of structures design for both bridges and ancillary structures.
  • Experience with conceptual through final analysis and design of new steel and concrete bridges of various types and configurations.
  • Evaluation of bridges and transportation structures and the identification and prioritization of repairs.
  • Analysis and load rating of existing bridges.
  • Individual will perform design calculations, develop plan details, quantity take offs, specification writing and other technical report writing.
  • Ability to establish partnerships with internal and external project management, client representatives, government agencies, and other organizations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage staff to effectively deliver projects on deadlines, including managing multiple staff working on multiple projects including management of subconsultants.
  • Understanding of project budgets, administration, contracts, and project management responsibilities.
  • Ability to market the skills of the structural and transportation engineering practice.
  • Ability to work in a corporate environment, communicating with a wide range of professional skill sets.
  • Specification Writing.
  • Cost Estimating.
  • Quality Control & Assurance reviews of all project deliverables.
  • Mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic project pursuits.
  • Participate in negotiations to secure contract awards.
  • Participate in client relations for the business unit's strategic clients, meet with clients.
  • Design & analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation design, and transportation facilities.
  • Perform Quality Assurance on Transportation Projects.
  • Contract Document production, including drawings and specifications.
  • Bridge load ratings.
  • Review of construction phase submittals.
