About The Position

Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels. We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager supporting our Indirect spend. In this role you will negotiate contracts, analyze commercial terms, and optimize pricing across an assigned category of indirect spend including Contingent Workforce, such as Technical Services and Business Services for our Engineering and Deployments team. You’ll develop category strategies and leverage market intelligence to develop alternative sources. You’ll have experience in best-practice procurement methods, and work to build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, influence and align roadmaps, and cultivate vendor partnerships. You will work closely with a variety of cross-functional internal teams. You are someone who is a self-starter and comfortable working with limited direction while taking full ownership of your domain. You are an effective and passionate problem-solver, who recommends pragmatic alternatives and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and high growth environment. In addition to the specific sourcing, procurement, and vendor management responsibilities, this position is expected to contribute to the maturity of the overall procurement function. This includes creating and refining processes, tools and templates that can be applied across all vendors and categories worldwide. You will be based in San Jose, CA, and report to the Manager, Indirect Procurement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or other related field
  • 5+ years in purchasing, buying, or procurement
  • Demonstrated experience making data-driven decisions with incomplete information
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to partner with key stakeholders and build relationships across multi-functional teams
  • Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, Airtable, Smartsheet, or similar analytical tools

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models for professional services that optimize the value of necessary goods and services
  • Implement cost-effective procurement practices, optimizing supplier performance and negotiating competitive pricing
  • Prepare RFQs, RFPs, bid documents, analyze and evaluate proposals, and administer the evaluation process
  • Craft negotiation strategies and execute favorable terms and conditions
  • Create contract documents in collaboration with the legal department
  • Contribute input toward the creation and implementation of programs to assess and promote supplier performance, development and management (e.g., establishing quarterly and annual goals, conducting quarterly business reviews, formal scorecard measures)
  • Establish & report out on KPIs within your category that support company goals and objectives
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to drive collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Analyze market trends, perform benchmarking and leverage industry knowledge to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, such as operations, finance, and engineering, to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure the appropriate criteria, such as: delivery of business results, cost reduction, quality and timeliness of delivery
