About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Strategic Information Systems Advisor (Operations & Policy Analyst 4) to join our Office of Education Innovation and Improvement (EII) at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent, full-time management service position. This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will be required when business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources. Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection and maintain a professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they would in the office. What you will do! This position sits at the intersection of policy, data, and real-world impact, helping shape how Oregon delivers on some of its most significant education investments. As a senior Strategic Information Systems Advisor in the Office of Education Innovation and Improvement, you won’t just analyze systems you will help design and influence them. This role plays a central role in implementing the Student Success Act and the Education Accountability Act, ensuring that data systems, research, and evaluation directly support better outcomes for students. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and five years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.
  • Any combination of experience and education equivalent to eight years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Strategic Systems & Data Infrastructure
  • Serve as a senior advisor on information systems that support research, evaluation, and reporting
  • Design and improve tools (e.g., Smartsheet and other platforms) that enable statewide program implementation and accountability
  • Ensure data systems align with policy, program goals, and statutory requirements
  • Drive Cross-Agency Strategy & Implementation
  • Lead and coordinate complex, cross-functional projects spanning multiple teams, offices, and partners
  • Support implementation of Integrated Programs, including the Student Investment Account
  • Advise leadership on innovation, continuous improvement, and strategic priorities
  • Oversee Research, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
  • Guide research and evaluation efforts to inform decision-making and program refinement
  • Translate data into actionable insights for policy, program design, and resource allocation
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement grounded in evidence and equity
  • Provide Technical Assistance & Build Partnerships
  • Deliver coaching, facilitation, and technical assistance to districts, Education Service Districts, and partners
  • Build strong relationships across agencies and communities to support program success
  • Lead professional learning and collaborative problem-solving efforts
