Job Overview The Senior, Store Planning & Design is responsible for leading Store Planning and Design and Merchant Initiatives. They take ownership of assigned projects, overseeing all aspects of planning and executing vendor shops, department remodels, and other merchant funded projects. This involves communication with merchants, vendors, Store Environment partners, and Regional/Store Management teams, as well as managing project schedules and budgets. Possessing cross-functional skills in planning, design, and execution is preferred.

Requirements

  • Leadership: Ability to lead Store Planning and Design and Merchant Initiatives, taking ownership of assigned projects and overseeing all aspects of planning and execution. Strong leadership profile with excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with merchants, vendors, Store Environment partners, and Regional/Store Management teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for conveying project requirements and updates.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management including coordinating schedules, managing budgets, and ensuring timely execution of projects.
  • Cross-Functional Skills: Possession of cross-functional skills in planning, design, and execution is preferred, demonstrating versatility in handling various aspects of projects.
  • Collaboration: Ability to build partnerships and collaborate effectively with merchants, vendors, Visual Merchandising, and Store Environment partners in the development and execution of projects.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial for managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring their successful completion.
  • Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and independently on assigned projects, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Problem-Solving: Being agile, quick, and solutions-oriented to address any challenges that may arise during project execution.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD for design-related tasks. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and financial management.
  • Presentation Skills: Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate project plans and updates to stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is essential, especially when reviewing final drawings, ensuring accuracy, merchandise functionality, and adherence to store design planning rules.
  • Independent Work: Ability to work independently and manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring all project deliverables and goals are met.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the incorporation of assigned vendor shops into the store environment, ensuring they adhere to our merchandise and aesthetic standards while allowing brand expression.
  • Responsible for creating shop criteria, such as scope, plans, elevations, budgets, and schedules, reviewing all vendor design proposals, submitting budget documentation, and partnering with the construction team for execution in stores.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and monitor installation schedules to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Build partnerships and collaborate effectively with merchants, vendors, Visual Merchandising, and Store Environment partners in the development and execution of the shops.
  • Collaborate with Store Environment internal partners and provide Family of Business expertise and perspective in developing scope and block plans, merchandise flow, fixture plans, and construction documents for assigned department remodel projects.
  • Communicate all planning and design issues to project participants, review final drawings for completeness, accuracy, merchandise functionality, and adherence to key store design planning rules.
  • Guide outside consultants on planning and design issues, ensuring all scope, schedule, and project deliverable goals are met.
  • Assist in maintaining and managing capital budgets, updating budget/capital reporting/tracking systems for all assigned projects.
  • Represent the department in internal and external meetings as needed, including those with Merchants, Capital Planning, Merchandise Execution, Visual, and Vendor partners.
