Please note this position is based in our Phoenix, AZ Support Office. The Senior Program Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and governance of high-impact facility capital investment programs that ensure the reliability, compliance, and efficiency of Sprouts' facilities. This role oversees complex, technical, multi-vendor programs, including refrigeration conversions, HVAC replacements, condenser replacements, and other infrastructure initiatives, ensuring seamless delivery, optimized costs, and minimal operational disruption. As the central point of contact for facility investment requests, this position oversees intake, prioritization, and execution of asset replacements. The Senior Program Manager also leads preventative maintenance programs, responsible for vendor performance and compliance, and supports other strategic initiatives. The role requires strong technical, financial, and operational acumen, along with the ability to make fast, high-stakes decisions under pressure.

  • Leads full lifecycle of critical technical capital programs, including refrigeration and HVAC replacements, upgrades, and conversions.
  • Responsible for ensuring project managers and/or 3rd parties are delivering against all program phases including planning, budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, execution, and closeout, ensuring programs are delivered on time, on budget, and to scope.
  • Serve as the central intake point for facility managers to submit investment needs; evaluate requests, validate business cases, and prioritize replacements using data-driven criteria.
  • Primary owner of developing and maintaining seed lists and identify facility locations requiring asset replacement based on condition, risk, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Maintain comprehensive program documentation, budgets, forecasts, and executive reporting.
  • Direct owner of a capex budget of >$10 million annually. Manage quote reviews, invoice validation, and change order processes to ensure accuracy and cost control.
  • Develop a strategy, lead, and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs for facilities and technical assets.
  • Partner with internal teams and service providers to ensure consistent, high-quality maintenance execution and compliance.
  • Drive operational planning and process improvements by developing SOPs, RACI charts, and program governance tools.
  • Oversee vendor performance and adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews to track service quality, performance metrics, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support RFP processes to identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendor partners.
  • Facilitate vendor onboarding, ensuring alignment with operational, compliance, and administrative requirements.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Real Estate teams to resolve cross-functional challenges.
  • Support facility compliance requirements and ensure appropriate tools, SOP's and processes are developed and implemented for such programs as CARB (California Air Resources Board) and AIM (Air Impact Management) compliance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit readiness for all compliance activities.
  • Act swiftly and decisively to mitigate risks, minimize disruptions, and ensure operational continuity. Often with incomplete information, to control costs, maintain compliance, and ensure a positive store experience.
  • Respond swiftly to urgent or unexpected program issues with adaptability, composure, and a strong attention to detail. Make fast, high-impact strategic decisions under pressure,
  • Participate in limited on-call responsibilities for urgent program issues or escalations.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to provide clear program visibility for leadership.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.
  • 8-10 years' experience in program management, that includes supermarket or restaurant facility engineering programs and a bachelor's degree in business or management preferred; or an acceptable combination of experience and education.
  • Extensive knowledge of refrigeration systems, energy management systems, building controls/automation, and monitoring systems.
  • Strong mechanical background, including in-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and general building maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent program management skills with the ability to lead project teams and effectively prioritize, multi-task, and resolve complex issues under pressure.
  • Proven success overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets and multiple concurrent vendor-led projects.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization.
  • Proficiency in Smartsheets and Service Channel CMMS preferred or similar tools.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of vendor management, including RFPs, KPIs, SLAs, and performance review processes.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance programs such as CARB and AIM.
  • Ability to make confident, informed decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Clearly sets expectations and communicates concisely, directly, and empathetically.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and discretion in solving complex and expensive issues.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-resolution capabilities.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.
