About The Position

We are seeking a Los Angeles based, Senior Storage Engineer to provide system deployment and administration of Fox's hybrid data storage, protection and archive systems. The Engineer will architect for the enterprise and lead activities related to implementing and maintaining the data storage and protection environments supporting purpose-built physical and virtual computing environments. Experience with Block, File, Object and Cloud-enabled data storage, including tiering, mobility and availability systems. Additionally, experience with archiving and data protection including CDP, snapshot, compression/dedup, replication, and digital backup technologies is required. The Engineer will support problem identification, resolution and RCA; technical solution development and deployment; documenting and publishing standards, policies and procedures governing the operation and administration of Fox's domestic data storage and protection infrastructure. The Engineer also operates as a project manager, is responsive, and ensures problems are addressed and resolved while building and maintaining positive, cooperative relationships across IT Organizations, clients, resellers, and manufacturers . This position requires rotating 24x7 on-call cycles and seasonal evening and weekend hours (including Sundays) to support live sporting and news event broadcasts.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced industry similar to Media and Entertainment with the ability to balance and lead complex projects
  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture and design of complex distributed systems environments, including failover techniques, recovery/rollback, and load balancing
  • Working knowledge of automation via scripting including Linux Shell Scripting, JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, etc.
  • Experience supporting virtualized enterprise applications in VMWare, Nutanix, AWS Outpost, AWS and GKE/GCP
  • Working knowledge of building Infrastructure as a Code with technologies like Terraform Scripting (preferred) or CloudFormation.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively assess, manage and diffuse high pressure situations, providing ongoing status updates to affected teams and business-unit leadership, Team and customer service oriented, with the ability to work and interact effectively internally and externally, with goal oriented people, in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and produce high-quality work while managing multiple critical projects in a dynamic, fast-paced culture
  • Ability to adjust priorities to align to changing demands of business units

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade data storage and protection systems for structured and unstructured data
  • Daily demonstration of advanced knowledge of working with high-performance Block Storage Systems (similar to Pure or NetApp EF-Series) and high-performance File Storage Systems (similar to NetApp, Isilon/PowerScale, Pixit Media, or Stornext) in an enterprise media environment
  • Architect and manage FC SAN Switching based on Brocade technology in an enterprise environment
  • Object Storage Systems (On-Premise and Public Cloud) in an enterprise environment
  • Archive Storage Systems (similar to Rubrik or Veeam) in an enterprise environment.
  • Data life-cycle management and tiering strategies
  • Vendor management, including Dell EMC, Brocade, PureStorage, NetApp, and Rubrik who are viewed as strategic partners - hold them accountable for delivering quality services
  • Collaborate with SME's from various IT disciplines to form comprehensive solutions to meet or exceed design criteria specified by diverse business units.
