JOB SUMMARY Will perform all aspects of VMware environment administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, process improvement, and ongoing lifecycle maintenance tasks such as monitoring, tuning, patching, and securing virtualization infrastructure. Responsible for documentation of procedures and development of repeatable best practices. Assists in developing standard operating procedures to ensure a consistent and optimum level of performance for both operational and regulatory compliance. JOB DUTIES The Enterprise VMware Administrator delivers a virtualization infrastructure that provides world-class service and reliability to ERCOT business operations. These systems and technologies fulfill ERCOT's business and protocol needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience (in excess of degree requirements), 7 years of progressively responsible experience (in excess of degree requirements) preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science, MIS or related field (Required) Or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Certification: VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP).

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Perform lifecycle management tasks such as monitoring, tuning, patching, and securing VMware infrastructure.
  • Automate provisioning and operational tasks using VMware tools and scripting to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to ensure resources meet current and future business demands.
  • Implement and manage workload optimization strategies leveraging VMware ARIA Operations toolset.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate VMware solutions with storage technologies and replication strategies.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring replication and failover capabilities are tested and validated.
  • Research and evaluate emerging VMware technologies and methodologies to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Admin Sr Advanced automation leveraging vSphere API.
  • Workload optimization and predictive analytics using ARIA Operations.
  • Enterprise storage integration and replication strategies.
