About The Position

Now Hiring! Senior State HR Management Consultant (HR Consultant 2) The Chief Human Resources Office (CHRO) at Department of Administrative Services (DAS) provides enterprise-wide policy leadership necessary to maintain a reliable and qualified workforce for the state of Oregon. The Office's centralized policy functions enable executive branch agencies to share resources and expertise with which to manage their human resource assets and capital in a cost-effective way. As a Senior State HR Management Consultant, you are a leading human resource expert, providing comprehensive advice, guidance, and assistance to State HR professionals on highly complex areas involving human resource management in state government. The Senior State HR Management Consultant promulgates and advises on CHRO’s laws, rules, policies and systems and ensures rules and policies comply with federal and state laws and regulations. You will serve as a vital conduit, providing expert consultation to all levels of leadership and Human Resources Staff with agencies across the state. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business or Public Administration, Behavioral Sciences or Organizational Development/Behavior; AND five years professional level human resource experience in HR policy administration, workforce management, investigations and human resource management principles and practices; OR Eight years professional level human resource experience in HR policy administration, workforce management, investigations and human resource management principles and practices.
  • A master's degree in any of the above listed courses of study may substitute for one year of professional-level experience.
  • The State Certified Human Resources Professional (SCHRP) certification, awarded by the Oregon Chief Human Resources Office, substitutes for six months of human resource professional-level experience.
  • Valid Certification as a SHRM Certified Professional awarded by a nationally recognized organization or PSHRA-SCP from the Public Sector HR Association, substitutes for one year of human resource professional-level experience.
  • Employee is required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the state where the employee resides or provide an acceptable alternate mode of transportation.
  • Finalists will be subject to a computerized criminal history check.
  • Adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification.
  • Agency does not offer visa sponsorship.
  • Within three days of hire, applicants will be required to complete I-9 documentation and confirm authorization to work in the United States.
  • If your employment authorization and documentation is contingent on sponsorship now or in the future, you will not meet Agency employment eligibility standards.

  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, with attention to detail in stressful times.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to approach all interactions with a high degree of professionalism, even under sensitive/difficult or politically sensitive circumstances.
