About The Position

The Media Supply Chain (MSC) Content Distribution Engineering team at WBD is responsible for building and maintaining the systems that schedule content, orchestrate its delivery, and provide tools for operations to monitor and act on those deliveries. Our platforms ensure timely, accurate, and scalable content distribution across global partners and services. We are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of scalable, event-driven systems that power our content scheduling, delivery orchestration, and operational tooling. The Media Supply Chain (MSC) Content Distribution Engineering team is responsible for building the end-to-end platform that enables Warner Bros. Discovery to acquire, transform, and distribute media, metadata, artwork, and ancillary materials to partners and platforms worldwide. This role will help evolve our distribution ecosystem—simplifying workflows, consolidating legacy tools, and enabling rapid onboarding of new partners and business models. You will play a critical role in improving operational efficiency, observability, and automation, with a north star of managing by exception and minimizing manual intervention. Our systems must be flexible, fast, and scalable to meet the demands of a rapidly changing media landscape and support the company’s strategic growth goals.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or staff-level role.
  • Deep expertise in Java, Node.js, and Python.
  • Strong experience with AWS, MongoDB, and Kubernetes.
  • Proven track record in designing and deploying event-driven architectures and microservices.
  • Experience applying AI/ML techniques to enhance operational efficiency, such as predictive scheduling, intelligent alerting, or automated anomaly detection in content delivery systems.
  • Proficiency in Angular or other modern UI frameworks (e.g., React, Vue) for building intuitive and responsive operational tools.
  • Ability to implement robust monitoring and observability, using tools such as Grafana, CloudWatch, Kibana, and PagerDuty.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drive long-term architecture and technical direction across multiple internal tooling workstreams, ensuring cohesive design and scalable foundations.
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior engineering, product, and business leaders—helping shape product roadmaps and organizational priorities.
  • Lead complex, cross-team initiatives across frontend and backend teams that require deep coordination, influencing beyond formal authority.
  • Guide the technical growth of the Content Distribution Engineering organization by mentoring Staff+ engineers, setting high standards, and sharing knowledge broadly.
  • Set the bar for operational excellence, engineering velocity, and system reliability—identifying and fixing systemic issues.
  • Serve as a connector across domains—bridging teams, technologies, and business contexts to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Represent engineering in company-level discussions, helping translate business goals into a sustainable technical strategy.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior product and engineering leadership—translating technical opportunities and constraints into strategic input that influences product direction and company priorities.
  • Take responsibility for the long-term health and evolution of core systems and infrastructure, making principled trade-offs along the way.
