Senior/Staff Software Engineer - UI
About The Position
Staff / Lead Frontend Engineer (Onsite – Mountain View) We’re looking for a Staff / Lead Frontend Engineer to own and lead our Frontend team onsite in Mountain View. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to shape both the technical direction and the team culture of a core product area. You’ll be responsible for building and scaling our frontend platform while mentoring engineers, driving execution, and partnering closely with Product, Design, and Backend leadership. This role is onsite in Mountain View, with regular in-person collaboration expected.
Requirements
- 5+ years of frontend engineering experience in product-focused environments.
- Strong, hands-on experience with React (required); Next.js experience is a plus.
- Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, modern frontend patterns, and state management.
- Strong understanding of frontend performance, accessibility, and cross-browser behavior.
- Experience leading projects or teams (formally or informally).
- A strong product mindset and high standards for UX and polish.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Mountain View.
Nice To Haves
- Experience scaling frontend platforms at early-stage or high-growth startups.
- Strong UI/UX instincts and experience collaborating closely with designers.
- Background in AI, automation, developer tools, or enterprise software.
Responsibilities
- Lead frontend architecture and technical direction for a complex, AI-driven product.
- Be hands-on in building scalable, high-performance user interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
- Lead and mentor frontend engineers, setting a high bar for quality, clarity, and ownership.
- Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver intuitive, polished user experiences.
- Establish best practices around performance, accessibility, reliability, and maintainability.
- Translate complex AI workflows into clear, intuitive, and trustworthy interfaces.
- Drive frontend initiatives end-to-end, from concept to production.
- Play a key role in hiring and growing the frontend team.
