About the position

The Senior Staff Software Engineer at Ripple will play a pivotal role in leading the development of next-generation payment applications that facilitate instant cross-border settlements. This position focuses on enhancing the global financial system through innovative crypto solutions, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and cost-effectiveness in payment processing.

Responsibilities

• Build, scale and maintain enterprise, distributed payment applications that complete settlement within seconds
• Work with wider technical teams on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of backend applications
• Be a technical domain expert, provide technical leadership and share your expertise with a growing team of engineers
• Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by implementing and driving standard methodologies for architecture, coding, testing, and deployment

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on software development and architecture experience on large scale distributed backend systems
• At least 5+ years in Java or similar (with spring framework)
• 4+ years experience working as a tech lead and mentoring other specialists
• Experience in building transactional systems (preferably in payments / banking / e-commerce domains)
• Experience with modern persistence technologies (Aurora, DynamoDB etc.)
• Experience building cloud applications on AWS or GCP
• Familiarity with distributed computing technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes
• Experience with Agile development of distributed services, focusing on robust software design, scalability, availability and security
• BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or similar
