We are looking for a Senior or Staff Product Design Engineer – Tooling to join our Hardware Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of specialized molding tools and components that support Oura’s epoxy molding and encapsulation processes. You will play a key role in exploring new materials, enabling new manufacturing capabilities, and improving the performance and reliability of Oura’s products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years (Senior) or 10+ years (Staff) of experience in tooling design, molding processes, or high-precision manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (NX preferred) and engineering drawing practices.
  • Experience developing tooling for epoxy molding, encapsulation, or polymer-based manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to run experiments, collect data, analyze results, and translate insights into design or process improvements.
  • Experience collaborating with automation, equipment vendors, and global manufacturing partners.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of precision tooling, inserts, and fixtures for epoxy molding and encapsulation.
  • Create detailed CAD, drawings, and specifications that support both rapid iteration and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Drive experimentation to evaluate new tooling concepts, material behaviors, and process conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with Materials Science, Product Design, and Manufacturing Engineering to integrate new tools into Oura’s production workflows.
  • Partner with global manufacturing teams and suppliers to prototype, build, qualify, and scale new tooling solutions.
  • Support the development of process documentation, standards, and best practices.
