Senior/Staff Partner Automation Architect Location: Milpitas, CA (hybrid) As an Automation Architect, you will:

Requirements

  • Work well with ambiguous goals to solve big challenges at scale.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  • 7+ years of experience with Test Engineering or systems automation experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with Java or similar languages.
  • Working understanding of computer networking, cloud services & mobile applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hands on hardware lab automation.
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks (Robot, Selenium, XCUITEST, etc.)
  • Experience automating mobile application testing.
  • Experience using AI development tools (Cursor, ClaudeCode, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Define our Architecture & Framework Strategy: Architect and drive the design of an end-to-end automation framework spanning hardware devices, mobile applications (iOS/Android), and cloud services.
  • Define framework standards, extensibility models, and patterns to ensure scalability, maintainability, and long-term evolution.
  • Establish quality gates and automation architecture that supports CI/CD and rapid partner platform releases.
  • Ensure automation coverage reflects real-world partner and customer workflows across all layers of the stack.
  • Drive alignment across engineering teams on automation strategy, tooling, and testability improvements.
  • Implement a Hardware Lab & Infrastructure Automation: Design and oversee the setup of a scalable hardware test lab supporting real-device automation.
  • Define approaches for hardware provisioning, reset, orchestration, and monitoring.
  • Implement network automation and infrastructure controls to enable reproducible, unattended test execution.
  • Partner with infrastructure and IT teams to ensure secure, reliable lab operations.
  • Establish observability and diagnostics within the lab to reduce flakiness and improve signal quality.
  • Utilize AI to Accelerate Production: Leverage Arlo’s AI framework to accelerate test definition, generation, maintenance, and failure analysis.
  • Develop workflows where AI assists in converting defined test scenarios into executable automation.
  • Establish guardrails to ensure AI-generated automation remains deterministic, repeatable, and auditable.
  • Continuously evaluate how AI can improve coverage, reduce manual effort, and shorten time-to-automation.
  • Define best practices for AI usage within Quality Engineering and help operationalize them across teams.
